Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark and was graduated in the year 1995. He also appeared on The Killing, a drama series that aired worldwide. He later appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, two internationally highly acclaimed Danish dramas. He also played a major character in the BBC drama Sherlock, playing the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American television show. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his role as the president of Russia on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was broadcast in the UK in the year 2019. According to Mikkelsen's account, he was taught English from his brother by listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
